How to Add Accents to Letters on a Mac
Accent marks, also called diacritics, slant to the right over the top of certain vowels and consonants. Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek use them.
English has absorbed numerous Spanish, Italian, French, and Portuguese words, and many of their vowels take the accent mark. For example, the French and Spanish word café often appears in English with the accent mark.
Accent marks are placed on both uppercase and lowercase letters:
