If you like to take screenshots or gameplay recordings on your Xbox, you run the risk of having your account unintentionally banned. These days, game consoles upload all of your gameplay clips directly to their servers, and they often display them on the store pages of those games. If you capture a clip of a particularly spicy moment in a game and it shows up on the Xbox store, the console maker can block you from playing games that require an internet connection.
This is a HIDDEN feature on EVERY Xbox! 😱
This may seem a little outrageous, but it seems like this is happening to a lot of Xbox players. One Baldur’s Gate 3 player was banned for a year for recording a bunch of NSFW moments from the game, even though the content wasn’t meant to be shared. They weren’t the only ones, as several people on the Reddit thread reported receiving temporary bans for similar issues. In an ideal world, Xbox would mark these clips as NSFW and not show them in the store. Or players wouldn’t get banned for capturing in-game content that Microsoft has approved for sale. Fortunately, there is a workaround you can implement to prevent the banhammer from coming your way.
The crux of the problem is that your gameplay clips are being uploaded to Xbox servers by default, even if you only intend for those clips to be used for personal purposes. Here's how to change your privacy settings to prevent that.
