Perhaps the hardest part of the equation is finding a good adblocker to download. Many adblockers are paid apps, meaning you’ll pay a dollar or two for the blocker. There are also blockers like AdBlock Plus, which claim not to block inconspicuous ads in order to “support websites,” but in fact charge a fee in the form of a cut of the ad revenue from some of those sites.

At the top of the list is 1Blocker. It’s free to download and easy to configure. You can create a list of allowed sites (usually called a whitelist, but the modern term is safelist), which allows ads on the site. 1Blocker can also block trackers, social media links, comment sections, and other parts of a website that can slow down download speeds. However, you can only block one element at a time in the free version. An in-app purchase blocks multiple elements, such as both ads and tracking widgets.

Adguard is a solid alternative to 1Blocker. It is also free and includes the ability to allow ads from some sites. You can also block various trackers, social media buttons, and "annoying website features" like full-page banners, in addition to blocking ads.
