I recently upgraded my “unsupported” PC to Windows 11 and was immediately bombarded with banner notifications, ads, and topical issues that I would rather not have forced upon my operating system. Windows 11 doesn’t exactly provide a pleasant experience out of the box, but there are a few settings you can tweak that should fix most issues.

You might be tempted to use a third-party tool to disable all of Microsoft’s invasive tracking with a single click. While this may seem like the easier method than following this guide, I don’t recommend it: it’s hard to know what changes such tools are making under the hood, and if something goes wrong, it’s hard to fix the problem since these apps typically adjust dozens of settings at once.
