It's easy to order the latest iPhone or Samsung phone, but for the real gadget lovers who want something different and want to save money, there is always the option of buying gadgets directly from China.
The phones, tablets and gadgets that can be shipped directly to your door differ in subtle but fun ways from those you can pick up at Best Buy. Sometimes it’s hard to tell exactly what you’re getting, and warranty service can be sketchy. But the uncertainty can be half the fun, some say.
“Gadgets from abroad are a lot cheaper than stuff made at home, so you can find some pretty good deals at low prices,” Zohar Gilad, co-founder and CEO of InstantSearch+. “There’s also more variety and you can choose gadgets that best suit your needs.”
If you scour Chinese sites like Alibaba and DHGate, you’ll find some interesting finds. For just $117.72, you can buy a Goophone 6.5 11 Pro Max. That seems like a good deal, but the fine print is a little disconcerting. “System may show fake 64GB/256GB/512GB, and I will send you with 64GB/256GB/512GB box,” the seller writes.
