watchOS 11 added the ability to change your Apple Watch’s ringtone, which also lets you set different tones for different types of notifications. While I usually leave my Apple Watch on silent, this feature offers a viable alternative. I sometimes find haptic notifications a little jarring since they use the same intensity for all apps, and I now find it much less intrusive to set less jarring ringtones for less important apps.

This helps me more quickly determine whether a notification needs my immediate attention or not. For example, if I hear a calendar notification, I know to check my watch right away, but with most other notifications, I can finish what I was doing before checking it. Select one of the options above to set an alert sound specifically for this app. This means you can set a different tone for text messages, emails, calendar alerts, and reminders.
