The default browser isn’t always the best option: Microsoft might want you to use Edge, but you might get better performance out of Chrome or Firefox. On a Mac, Safari is pretty limited, and yet it’s still the default. Instead, a new browser like Arc is a much better option. The same goes for your smartphones and tablets.

This will change the default browser for the most popular web formats like HTM, HTML, HTTP, and HTTPS. If you want to switch completely, scroll down to find extensions like SHTML, XHT, XHTML, and FTP, and click on the current browser in each section, then switch to the browser you want. The process is similar for Windows 10.
Click the Apple menu in the top toolbar and choose System Preferences. In the sidebar, choose Desktop & Dock and choose a new browser from the Default Web Browser option.
For a long time, it wasn’t possible to change the default browser on iPhone and iPad; that changed starting with iOS 14. You can now switch to any browser in the App Store.
