The Disk Cleanup utility has been included with Windows since Windows XP. Although the functionality has improved somewhat in newer versions of Windows, the process remains the same.

Select the Start button and type Disk Cleanup. Select the Disk Cleanup app. When it launches, you will see all the files on your system and how much space will be freed up by cleaning them up.

Under Files to delete, select all the boxes. These include downloaded files, temporary Internet files, cache files, the Recycle Bin, and more. You can delete all of these files without damaging your Windows system. Select OK to start the cleanup process.
