There are several side quests to work on in Final Fantasy XIV, and even more for those making their way through the Dawntrail expansion. While many of them are simple, the Once a Riddle, Now a Ruler quest is much more involved.

The entire side quest tackles multiple riddles with a specific solution in mind. If you don’t pick up on the small details in the quest’s letters and contextual clues, it can be easy to get the wrong answer. Here’s what you’ll need to do to solve all the riddles in Once a Riddler, Now a Ruler in FFXIV.
There are three locations you need to visit to complete this quest. You get the first one after talking to the quest giver at the coordinates (X:15.3, Y:6.3). The Nostalgic Attendant will give you the letter they found that will help you on your way to this quest. You can do this before or after completing all of the Dawntrail Main Scenario Quests. The quest also does not require you to track down Aether Currents with your Aether Compass.
The letter contains the first riddle, and it reads: "A great hall rests on buried shells from the past, where palm trees tower above sands that glitter with gold." You'll find this location west of Xbalyav Ty'e, to the left of a palm tree. When you get close enough, a small location will begin to glitter, and you can interact with it to find the second riddle.
