Smart assistants like Alexa, Siri, or Google are essential components of your smart home. Sure, you can turn lights on and off via an app on your phone, but asking Alexa to do it for you is like living in The Jetsons. These assistants come to life via devices installed throughout your home. For Alexa, that means Amazon Echo, which comes in a range of different options.
Amazon Alexa Echo Won't Connect to WiFi Network Issue (2020)
Depending on where you’re installing your device, you’ll want to choose an Echo that’s best suited to your needs. You’ll need to be within earshot of an Echo to use its assistant, so you might consider installing a fleet of small Echo Dots throughout your home. Powerful and small, they can fit just about anywhere and can even be mounted to walls and ceilings. Every Echo is also a speaker, but sometimes you want better sound, in which case an Echo Studio might be a good choice. In your kitchen, you might want the ability to watch video or make video calls, in which case an Echo Display might be the right choice.
Either way, once you’ve chosen the right device or devices, you’ll need to power them up and set them up to access your virtual assistant. If you’re simply going to sit your Echo on a countertop, everything you need comes in the box. All you need to do is grab your Wi-Fi network password and figure out where to plug your Echo in. If you plan on mounting your Echo, you may need additional tools like a drill, level, or screwdriver, depending on your mounting instructions. You may also want to consider a cord cover.
Next, grab your device of choice and download the Amazon Alexa app for Android or iOS. Sign in to your Amazon account to get started. In your app, select “add device” and let the app guide you through the setup. Your Echo will display different colored lights on its screen as it goes along. It will guide you through connecting to the Wi-Fi network of your choice. You can change this network in the future, if needed, by selecting the device and then going to the “status” menu.
