AirPods are one of Apple’s most popular products, in part because of their ease of use within Apple’s ecosystem of devices like the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. But if you don’t own any other Apple products, you can still connect your AirPods to non-Apple devices like a Chromebook, and it’s pretty easy to do so.
How to Connect AirPods to a Chromebook
Before you pair your AirPods to your Chromebook, it’s a good idea to make sure they have sufficient charge. You’ll probably want at least 20-30% battery life before proceeding.
First, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your Chromebook. To do this, go to Quick Settings by clicking on the bottom right corner of the screen, where you will see the clock, battery icon, and Wi-Fi signal. In Quick Settings, you will find settings like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and others. The Bluetooth setting should be in the top middle row of Quick Settings. If Bluetooth is enabled, you will see the Bluetooth icon in blue; it will be gray if it is disabled. Clicking on the Bluetooth icon should bring up a new window with further Bluetooth settings, such as options for pairing a new device like a mouse or headphones. Click on Pair new device.
Now, place your AirPods in their charging case and put them into pairing mode by holding the button on the back of the case until you see the LED light flash white. The light may also be in your charging case, depending on which AirPods model you have. To put your AirPods Max into pairing mode, hold the noise cancellation button until you see the white light flash.
