This article explains how to connect your Wii U to a television.

Once you have your Wii U console and all of its components out of the box, you need to decide where to put the console. Place it on a flat surface near your television.

By default, the Wii U console lays flat, but if you have a stand, like the one that came with the Deluxe Set, you can stand it up. The stand consists of two pieces of plastic that look like short "U"s. They go onto the right side of the console when it's laying flat. The tabs that extend out from the console align with slots in the stand pieces.

There are three cables that plug into the back of the Wii U. Plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet. Now take the other end of the AC adapter, which is coded yellow, and plug it into the yellow port on the back of the Wii U. Make sure you orient it correctly by looking at the shape of the port. Take the sensor cable, which is coded red, and plug it into the red port, the shape of which also shows how it goes in (if you have a Wii that you plan on unplugging, you can simply plug your Wii Sensor Bar into your Wii U; it's the same connector).
