The Camera Control button is one of the most hyped new features on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. You can do a lot more than just take photos with this button: you can also toggle between different camera settings, launch third-party camera apps, or even disable the button altogether. Here's how to get the most out of the iPhone 16 Camera Control button.
How to Make Your iPhone 16's Camera Control Button Actually Useful
On the iPhone 16 series smartphones, the Camera Control is a capacitive button at the bottom right of the phone. It lets you quickly launch the camera, functions as a shutter button, and helps you adjust camera settings. For example, you can open the camera and slide your finger on Camera Control to zoom in or out. On an iPhone 16 Pro, you can zoom all the way up to 25x using the Camera Control button. When in video mode, Camera Control also lets you select and easily adjust various video controls, such as exposure, zoom, or depth of field.
While you're here, you can also customize what happens when you press the Camera Control button. On the same settings page, select Double-tap if you want your Camera app (or third-party one) to only launch after two taps instead of one.
Under the Double-tap option in the Camera Control settings, you’ll see a list of apps. Here you can select which ones you want to launch when you press or double-tap the button. You’re not limited to the default Camera app. This list shows all the camera apps installed on your phone. You’ll also see the QR code scanner and the magnifier.
