Every time you download a file through a web browser, it gets saved to your device’s hard drive and stays there even after you no longer need it. Over time, these downloads take up space on your hard drive. Here’s how to remove these downloads from the default download location on any operating system.
How to Delete Downloaded Files: Know Your Computer
You can delete downloaded files via Explorer.
Open a new Explorer window.
Select the Downloads folder, often found in the left menu pane under This PC, Quick access, or both. If you don’t see that option, you may need to manually navigate to C:/Users/username/Downloads.
