When you connect an iPhone or iPod to a computer running iTunes, iTunes opens and attempts to automatically sync with the device. This is designed to be convenient, as it saves you from having to open iTunes manually. But there are a couple of good reasons to disable automatic syncing with iTunes.
How to Disable iTunes Automatic Syncing When Connecting an iOS Device
If you're using iTunes 12 or later, follow these steps to stop automatic syncing:
Connect your iPhone or iPod to your computer. iTunes should launch automatically. If it doesn't, launch the program.
If necessary, click the small iPhone or iPod icon in the upper left corner, just below the playback controls. This will take you to the Summary screen.
