Disabling chat history will not affect your ongoing conversations and OpenAI can still use them, but you will need to delete them yourself.

After you disable chat history, OpenAI will retain your conversations for 30 days for abuse monitoring, after which they will be permanently deleted.

Please note that chat history settings are not synced across devices and browsers. Make sure to disable your ChatGPT history on each device and browser separately.
