In this article, we'll explain how to best disable Facebook Messenger by turning off your active status on Facebook on your desktop, in your mobile browser, via Messenger.com on your desktop, or in the iOS or Android Messenger app.

Log into Facebook on your computer and select the Messenger icon in the top right corner.

Select the Options icon (three dots) in the top right corner of the chat sidebar.

Select Disable Active Status.
