Norton antivirus software protects your computer from various types of malware and other malicious attacks that are designed to obtain your personal information or simply destroy your device. Sometimes it can be overprotective and block programs that you actually trust from performing their necessary tasks. In such cases, you will want to disable Norton at least temporarily.
Disable Norton Antivirus (2024)
If you want to temporarily disable Norton while you perform the tasks, follow these steps.
Right-click the Norton Security icon in the notification area of the Windows taskbar.
When the pop-up menu appears, select Disable Auto-Protect.
