April 1, 2021: Disabling Quick Chat in Among Us was possible a few weeks ago via a quick notepad workaround by editing a file in the Among Us App Data directory. However, InnerSloth recently rolled out an update that fixed that workaround which allowed one to disable Quick Chat and change their age. Therefore, the methods mentioned below may no longer work. If another workaround becomes available in the future, we will update this article.
How to Disable Quick Chat in Among Us
On March 6, Among Us added Quick chat (version 2021.2.21) to make chatting faster, safer, and more convenient. There is no doubt that this feature is aimed at making in-game chatting safer (for kids) and easier, so that players can communicate faster and find the impostor(s).
But what if you’re an adult, playing with adults, and don’t want to just use the Quick Chat feature (which can sometimes be a bit limiting for effective communication)? Luckily, the update also lets you choose the “Free Chat” option. Here’s everything you need to know about the recent Among Us update and how to enable or disable it.
