File Checksum Integrity Verifier (FCIV) is a free command-line checksum calculator tool from Microsoft. FCIV works in Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP, 2000 and most Windows server operating systems.

Once FCIV has been downloaded and placed in the appropriate folder, it can be used like any other command from the command prompt. It will produce a checksum, MD5 or SHA-1, the two most commonly used cryptographic hash functions for verifying the integrity of a file.
