Apple's Find My app offers an Alert When Left Away feature that lets you know when you leave your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, or a connected device behind or in an unknown location. In this post, we'll explain what this feature is, which devices you can receive alerts about when you leave it behind, and how to enable Alert When Left Away notifications on your iPhone.
How to get notified when you leave an item or device behind | Apple Support
The Find My app has an “Notify When Left Behind” feature (also called “Separation Alerts”) that lets you monitor all of the devices connected to your Apple ID. In addition to tracking the locations of your devices, you can also configure your devices to alert you when you leave one in an unfamiliar location.
In addition to alerting you to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, the Notify When Left Behind feature comes in handy when you have AirTags paired with your accessories. When you enable separation alerts, Apple will continually monitor where your devices are and use their approximate location to let you know if you forget to take them with you.
When you leave an Apple device behind, you’ll receive notifications on all of your other connected Apple devices. This notification will say “Your device was left behind” and will include the last known approximate location of the device you left behind.
