Everything you need to know
Enable Internet Explorer Mode in Microsoft Edge in Windows 10/11
Despite being slow, outdated, and a security risk, you still need Internet Explorer (IE) for older websites and apps that don’t play well with modern browsers. But if you use Microsoft Edge for regular web browsing, you don’t need to keep switching between the two. That’s because the latter has a built-in Internet Explorer mode that can render sites in IE’s Trident MSHTML engine.
Before you can use Microsoft Edge to load outdated web content, however, you'll need to enable Internet Explorer mode. The following instructions will walk you through everything you need to know to set up this mode on a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC.
Internet Explorer Mode is built into the Chromium version of Microsoft Edge. You can enable it by visiting the browser's settings page.
