Downloading an image embedded in a Google Docs file isn’t a straightforward process, but it is certainly possible. If someone sent you a doc but forgot to add the images separately, and you need to extract a photo or two, here are a few ways to extract the images you need.
Download Images from Google Docs (Extract Google Doc Images)
Google Docs lets you publish your document to the web. You can use it to extract photos that are embedded in the file. You can then open the published file, right-click on an image, and select Save Image As to save it.
If all else fails because you don’t have an internet connection, you can quickly take a screenshot of one of the photos in Google Doc. Before taking a screenshot, zoom in on a file to a point where the images look reasonably good. This will allow you to take a slightly larger image, if the embedded file seems a little smaller than what you need.
