A network security key is a code or passphrase that you enter to connect your computer or mobile device to a private network. For example, if your home Wi-Fi network is secured (as it should be), you would enter a network security key to connect to it. The purpose of a network security key is to prevent unauthorized access to a network and keep your Wi-Fi network secure.

The fastest and easiest way to find your network security key is directly through your router.

Log in to your home router as an administrator. Menu systems vary by router brand, but most display your network SSID and network security key on the main page.

If your network security key isn’t displayed on the main screen, look for Connection, Wi-Fi, or something similar in the navigation menu to find the Wi-Fi connection settings screen. You’ll likely see your network security key there.
