When you use Google to search, you sometimes get the error message "Your computer or network may be sending automated search queries" regardless of your browser or operating system.

This error prevents you from accessing certain web pages and may require you to enter captchas multiple times to reset your search. This does not always work.
Google's servers and search engine are set up so that if many connection attempts (queries) are received from a single computer or network, this is flagged as possible automation.
If this is detected, Google will temporarily limit your use of search (and you may not be able to access certain web pages) to ensure other users are not affected by slowdowns.
