Windows update is really important and should be done as soon as updates are available. However, sometimes Windows 10 updates fail to install and you need to find a workaround.
Unfortunately, there is no clear answer as to why this happens. In some situations, services that depend on the Windows Update tool can be disabled, and in other cases, important update-related files can become corrupted or installations can be blocked by security software.
Follow these steps in the order given and preferably restart your computer after each step. Then check again if the problem is resolved with Windows Update (step 1 below).
Check for and install updates manually. If you’ve heard that updates have recently been made for Windows 10, but you don’t see them applied, it’s possible that Windows hasn’t checked for them.
