Getting a meteorite in Pokémon Go isn’t easy, as it’s a rare item that you can’t get by exploring your local neighborhoods. There’s a specific way to get one, and it’s a hefty requirement if you want to give it to the only Pokémon that can use one: Rayquaza.
Mega Rayquaza Counter Guide: Find Your Meteorite in Pokémon GO!
The meteorite isn’t always available. You’ll want to check the latest events in Pokémon Go to see if there’s one you can get. If not, you’ll have to wait until the event starts again. When you do get a meteorite, you’ll want to give it to a Rayquaza, as this Legendary Pokémon needs it to evolve into Mega Rayquaza.
The Meteorite item can only be obtained by completing a Special Research ticket provided by Niantic or as an event reward. These appear occasionally, usually when Mega Rayquaza Raids occur. The most recent is during Pokémon Go’s Adventure Week 2024 event, which starts on August 3 at 11:00 a.m. PDT in your area. Mega Rayquaza Raids will appear and a free Special Research quest will be sent out to all players who log in to the mobile game.
You will need to complete the Special Research and steps to earn the Meteorite on your Pokémon Go account. Once you have it, you will need to unlock the second move on your Rayquaza, which will cost Stardust and Rayquaza Candy. After that, you can give them the Meteorite, which will teach them the move Dragon Ascent. Rayquaza is the only Pokémon that can learn this move.
