When attempting to complete specific tasks in Pokémon Go, you may need to find certain items before you can continue playing. For those looking to challenge Team Rocket leader Giovanni, you’ll need the Super Rocket Radar.
TIPS for the TEAM ROCKET TAKEOVER in Pokémon GO (Aug. 2024)
Super Rocket Radars appear rarely in Pokémon Go, which can make it confusing to know where to get them. Luckily, they become available when Giovanni appears, but you’ll need to act quickly if you want to get them. Super Rocket Radars don’t appear for long, and if you miss one, you’ll miss your chance to challenge Giovanni and rescue the Legendary Pokémon he’s caught.
The Super Rocket Radar will only appear during the Special Research quest you receive during a Team Rocket takeover. These events occur at the end of a larger one, giving you a few days to jump into the game, grab the Special Research, and work your way through it. For August 2024, the Team Rocket takeover will take place during Pokémon Go’s Adventure Week 2024, from August 8th to August 12th, starting at midnight in your local time zone.
You should receive the Special Research quest when you first log in during that time period. Since it is a Special Research quest, it does not expire. However, you cannot get it if you are still working on the previous Team Rocket takeover Special Research that Niantic gave out last season. You must complete that and then you can get it for challenging Giovanni, who has captured a shadow version of Cresselia.
