Sheep are the only animals you can technically raise in Manor Lords. By breeding them, you provide your villagers and town with essential resources, while also increasing your agricultural yields.
How to Breed Sheep in Manor Lords
A key mechanic in Manor Lords is setting up a variety of clothing to upgrade Burgage Plots. Sheep play a major role in clothing production, and the animals provide value by fertilizing your Farming Fields set to Fallow. Getting sheep isn’t cheap, and I wouldn’t recommend breeding them until all of your village’s essential needs are met. Sheep aren’t a variety of food in Manor Lords either, so don’t think it’ll help feed villagers in times of need.
The only way to get sheep in Manor Lords is to buy them. To buy sheep, build a livestock trading post along the King's Road (an existing road that leaves the region). Once the building is finished, you must permanently assign a family to the livestock trading post by taking labor from your total pool. Go to the Trade tab, select the maximum number of sheep you want, and wait for a trader to take one. The total cost of one sheep is 30 regional wealth.
Once a livestock trading post is set up, build a fenced pasture for the sheep. Without a fenced pasture, the sheep will wander away. Normal villagers in Manor Lords are not programmed to stop the sheep, as they will simply walk past them and disappear into another region. Sheep herding occurs year-round, except for the winter months. As long as you have a pasture, you can unregister a family from the sheep farm. Like a farm, a sheep farm is necessary to get value from your sheep.
