Horses certainly shorten the travel time, but even that won’t get you back home if it’s only a few minutes before 2am, you’re near the Adventurer’s Guild, and you haven’t unlocked Minecart yet. It’s even worse if you’re in a place like Ginger Island and need to ride back to Pelican Town first. The latest 1.6 update solved that problem for us, as you can now get a Tent Kit in Stardew Valley and set it up to spend the night outside your home.

Even with few restrictions, the item is still worth unlocking and crafting for the adventurers. That being said, we’ve covered here when you can unlock it, what it requires for its recipe, free tent location, and other ways to get it.
There are three ways to get the Tent Kit in SDV: through crafting, through a free pack, and through a temporary festival:
Like all furniture and decorative items in SDV, you must select a tent from your inventory and then place it in the empty space. You cannot place it in there and it is a one-time use only. Doing so will cause it to be destroyed the next day you are up.
