Until now, if someone tried to call you on WhatsApp while you were already in a WhatsApp conversation, the caller would get a busy signal and couldn’t wait for the other call to be disconnected. This was because you didn’t get a notification that you were receiving another call at that time. The latest update to WhatsApp changes that as the Facebook-owned service has started rolling out a new version of its popular messaging app.

WhatsApp has announced a new ‘Call waiting’ feature for Android phones. With this update, users can now choose whether to pick up or ignore the call that is on hold. After installing the update, if you receive a second call on WhatsApp while you are already on a call, your phone will ring and you will be notified about the second call.

The call UI when receiving a second call has a 'Reject' button in a red box and an 'End & Accept' button in a green box. Pressing 'Reject' will reject the second call, while tapping 'End & Accept' will end the first call and connect you to the second caller. There is no option to hold a call or merge the two calls into a conference call.
