When it comes to unlocking gear and equipment in Final Fantasy XIV, Artifact gear is a favorite of many players to get when reaching the end of an expansion. Dawntrail is no different and this gear is available at a specific time, but you have to earn it.

You’ll want to grab this before you get into the bulk of Dawntrail’s endgame. Equipping this armor will give your character a boost, making it easier to tackle early endgame content, but it’s just the first step. After you equip it and equip it, there’s more gear to unlock in Final Fantasy XIV. If you’re not careful, it’s easy to miss how to get Dawntrail Artifact armor in FFXIV.

Your Dawntrail Artifact Armor will become available after you complete the In Pursuit of Sphene Main Scenario Quest. This is near the end of the Final Fantasy XIV expansion, so don’t expect to unlock it immediately after starting the expansion. Thankfully, the merchant will be presented to you during this quest, and you can talk to him whenever you find a break. Those looking to jump into high-level content should talk to the merchant as soon as possible.

The vendor you are shown during the quest is called Mewazunte. You can find them in Tuliyollal at the coordinates (X:12.4, Y:12.8). Getting the Artifact Armor and weapon costs nothing. Instead, all you need to do is reach this point in the Main Scenario Quest and you can start equipping the gear specific to your Job. Mewazunte has multiple categories available based on the Job your character is using. Before you take the gear from the vendor, you should research it to make sure it is the gear your character can equip. You do need to be level 99 to equip it.
