At its core it is a recipe, but there is no way to consume the final product. The Solder in Abiotic Factor is not needed for sustenance, but to progress through the story and craft unique materials.
Solder location – Abiotic factor
Solder is just one of the many materials you can craft in Abiotic Factor. Unlike other useful materials you make using the Crafting Bench, Solder is a strange material in that it is crafted exclusively in a boiling pot. Much like crafting strange soup concoctions using only what you have in your inventory, Solder can be cooked in the same way. Smelting specific metals will give you Solder, while smelting other metals can easily poison you.
But what exactly do you need to cook to get Solder?
Although Solder is not a substantial meal, unlike typical food cooked in a pot, it does count as a recipe in Abiotic Factor. You only need three items to make Solder. These are:
