Android 11 brought a refreshing new way to control media apps directly from the notification dropdown (quick settings) panel. While the unified interface has been continually updated, with the added ability to swipe away these controls when you were done listening, there was no way to choose which apps had access to the quick settings panel.

Previously, any app that could play music or video would end up in the Quick Settings panel. While it seemed convenient at first, unnecessary media apps in the Quick Settings could easily crowd out the apps you actually wanted to control.
