Twitter, which is disappearing along with Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube, is testing its own version of Stories. Dubbed Fleets, they allow users to post temporary content that lasts for a short time and behaves differently than regular tweets posted to Twitter.
How to Get/Use Stories on Twitter! (Twitter Fleets)
Fleet, as the name suggests, is something that passes quickly and Twitter, popular for its clever use of words, has done it again – Fleets instead of Tweets, geddit? Twitter lets you post ephemeral content to its platform in the form of Fleets, which, unlike regular tweets, only last for 24 hours. Fleets appear in their own section, above the main timeline, something you may have become accustomed to on Instagram.
Another interesting thing is that Twitter has designed Fleets in such a way that they are less accessible as compared to ‘Stories’ on Snapchat and Instagram. While you can visit someone’s Fleet if their account is public, the same cannot be shared externally or searched on Twitter.
While you can type up to 280 characters and add images, videos, and GIFs to your Fleet just like you would in a tweet, there are a few key differences. Unlike regular tweets, you can’t like, retweet, or reply to a Fleet.
