This article explains how to enable threads, also known as conversations, in Mac Mail. Learn how to use threads in conversations, set Mail preferences, turn off threading, and how threading worked in previous versions of Mac Mail.
Using Mac Mail Conversation Features
An email thread that spreads across dozens of messages in your inbox can be confusing to follow. Apple’s Mail app in macOS and OS X prevents this from happening by grouping emails into conversations (threads) instead of displaying each email individually.
You can easily turn conversations off or back on for your Inbox or any other folder in Mail. To read your messages organized by thread in any folder:
Open the inbox or folder where you want to read email, organized by thread. The Mail app remembers your choice for each folder, so changing the setting in one folder will not affect another folder.
