Growing crops is a fun and profitable activity in Lightyear Frontier. It turns out that your good neighbor Ulf can help you grow some unique and rare crops, and if you're wondering how that works, here's our handy guide to growing all the rare crops in Lightyear Frontier.

To grow rare crops in Lightyear Frontier, you'll first need to make contact with Ulf, a friendly botanist from another local planet who asks you to start a research project on the Frontier's plant life. Once you've built him an Outpost somewhere on your farm, he'll arrive on his ship and you can start his questline.

The main objective of Ulf's questline is to successfully produce mutated (rare) versions of all crops currently found on the planet. To do so, you'll first need to build a Seed Splicer (pictured above) at his Outpost, which allows you to split the seeds of normal crops found around the Frontier into seeds that can potentially grow mutated versions of those crops. As long as you've discovered and grown a certain type of normal crop at least once, you'll be able to split it at Ulf's Seed Splicer.

Remember, if you are running low on the seeds you need to split, you can also buy them from Lola, if she has them available. Otherwise, you will have to explore the map to collect them with your Mech.
