If you want to hide from your enemy’s line of sight in Helldivers 2, there’s a creative way to do it with a throwable weapon. This guide will show you a neat trick that makes use of the game’s smoke grenade, allowing you to safely escape to cover.

This trick revolves around the G-3 Smoke grenade in Helldivers 2, which is classified as a throwable weapon. Simply put, if you hold the G-3 Smoke grenade in your hand instead of throwing it like you would a normal grenade, it will of course explode. However, unlike a frag grenade, it will not damage, stun, or deal knockback to your Helldiver. Instead, it will instantly hide you from all enemy lines of sight, giving you a brief moment of relief. Pretty nifty, huh?

To get the most out of this trick, you'll first need to make sure you have the G-3 smoke grenade set as your throwable weapon. You can do this from the armory menu while on your ship.

Once you’re in a round of Helldivers 2, start by equipping your throwing weapon. I’ve mapped this action to the 4 key on PC. You can also press the G key on PC to quickly use your throwing weapon with the Quick Throwable action. Whichever option you choose, just make sure to hold down your Fire or Quick Throwable button until the smoke grenade in your hand explodes, as shown in the video above.
