Since Threads launched, its parent company, Meta, has been aggressively promoting the social network on Instagram and Facebook. One of these promotions is randomly placing Threads posts in the middle of your other social feeds. If I wanted to see Threads, Meta would open Threads.

It’s worth noting that Meta will show your Threads posts on other platforms by default, even if you don’t use those apps. Even if you deleted your Facebook account a while ago, your Threads posts may still show up there. The last thing you want is your Facebook-savvy family members going through your Threads shitposts.

If you want to grow your audience on Threads, it’s best to leave this option enabled. After all, Meta offers free promotion across all of its platforms. It’s a tricky balance, though: your posts may be seen by more people, but there’s no guarantee that they’ll be your target audience. While it’s good to have this kind of promotion, especially if you’re a content creator, you’re completely at the mercy of Facebook and Instagram’s algorithms.
