Building strong relationships with your followers is a big part of Metaphor: ReFantazio. Your bond with followers will increase no matter which dialogue options you choose, but you'll still need to find each follower to unlock their bond. Throughout the game, there are 14 followers with whom the protagonist can form bonds. Some bonds are formed automatically as part of the story, while others require specific side missions or dialogue checks with the five royal virtues: courage, wisdom, tolerance, eloquence, and imagination.

Talking to your Followers or completing their quests can help you raise their Bonds. The more you raise your Follower Bonds, the more new Archetypes will become available to you. The first Bond you unlock comes after you defeat Homo Gorleo on 06/05. Once the battle is over, you set up camp and after the protagonist goes to sleep, you'll be transported to Akademeia where you'll meet More. Simply talk to him and his Bond will be unlocked.
