The winter months are cold in Manor Lords, meaning you’ll need firewood to keep your townspeople warm. Shops and businesses also use fuel, so running out of fuel can be a disaster. The best form of early-game fuel is firewood. But firewood isn’t the only option in Manor Lords; you can also use charcoal.
Everyone in your city and most establishments need fuel to operate efficiently. For example, an inn needs malt from a malthouse that was originally barley from a farmer's field. Without enough fuel, it will not be able to convert the barley into malt. The same goes for other industrial buildings such as the Clay Furnace, Smithy, and Bloomery.
Your people need fuel to stay warm and eat. These are two essential things that you cannot cheat on in Manor Lords. Each Burgage plot consumes one food and one fuel per month. Fuel consumption doubles in the winter months, so it is necessary to have at least a 12-month surplus.
