An indent determines the distance between the left and right margins. It is also used in bullets and numbering to ensure that text is properly aligned.
Indents appear on the ruler. If the ruler is not displayed at the top of the document, click the Ruler check box on the View tab. The indent marker consists of two triangles and a rectangle.
