Installing and running Linux apps on your Chromebook expands its capabilities with more productivity tools. This tutorial explains how to install and run Linux apps, and also offers some suggestions on which ones to use.
If you didn't know, the latest versions of Chrome OS let you install Linux natively without having to create a separate installation. The default distro that installs seems to be Debian. There is currently a feature request that gives you the option to install other distros, such as Ubuntu or Fedora.
