Not all internet speed tests offer the same metrics or parameters in their results, but they all offer both download and upload speeds. Other metrics may include QoS, RTT, and Maximum Pause.
Understanding Internet Speed Test Results
These values are measured in kbps (kilobits per second) or Mbps (megabits per second) and indicate the speed at which data is transferred to or from a network device.
In the case of download speed, it refers to the speed at which data is downloaded to your computer or mobile device, whether it is VoIP data, software, documents or media. Upload speed is how fast the data can be sent to the internet, cloud or a network device.
For a good quality phone call, a download speed of 100 kbps and an upload speed of 80 kbps are sufficient. You can get an idea of your upload and download speeds by installing a network meter.
