To play with your friend in Soulmask, one of you needs to become the host and create a Tribe. You can do this after opening the Tribe menu by pressing the J key. When creating, make sure to carefully select all the parameters such as Tribe Name and share it with your friend.

Once the Tribe is created, ask your friend to launch Soulmask and open the Tribe menu. From there, they can search for your Tribe name and apply to join.
