There are plenty of apps you can use to create countdown widgets on iOS 14. Don’t go searching for the word “countdown” in the App Store, though, or you’ll just end up frustrated. I experimented with an app called Countdown Widget Maker, and while it’s not free (there are few free ones), it gets the job done if you’re looking for elegant, custom widgets.

Why would you need an app like Countdown Widget Maker? Because you want to know how many days, hours, or minutes are left until a milestone in your life, whether it’s your birthday, the launch of a brand new games console, how long until you can quit your job, or how much time you have left in your COVID quarantine.
As mentioned, there are plenty of paid countdown apps on the App Store, and I’m fine with developers charging a small fee for their efforts (although this isn’t the kind of app that requires you to pay a subscription fee to access). Countdown Widget Maker lets you create two basic countdown widgets for free, which should be good enough for your big events, but there’s a one-time fee of $4 if you want unlimited countdown widgets and additional customizations.
