Checking that your Skype connection is working optimally before that important phone call comes in is crucial. Skype offers a simple, always-on way to know for sure: the Echo/Test Sound Service. These instructions apply to Skype version 12 or later on Windows 10, 8 or 7 and Mac OS X 10.10 or later.
How to Make a Free Test Call in Skype
After installing Skype on your computer or before an important call, check that your audio is working properly and that your computer’s connection to the internet and Skype is strong enough to make a call. Also check that you can hear well and that the person on the other end can hear you.
Start Skype and log in to your account.
Select the Contacts tab on the left panel, where all your contacts will be displayed. Below that, you will see a link for the Echo/Test Sound Service. If your contact list is sorted alphabetically, it will appear under E. Select Echo/Test Sound Service to open its details in the main window of the interface.
