Share large files without uploading

Torrents are one of the most popular ways to share files online. When you create your own torrent file, you allow other people to download files directly from your computer. In some cases, this is much more efficient than uploading the files to an online data storage site and offering the download there.

You might want to create a torrent file if you’re sharing files that are too large to email, or if your regular file sharing method doesn’t accept really large files or a specific file type. Torrents don’t discriminate based on file type or size, so you can share literally anything you want, for as long as you want.

When you use torrents created by others and obtained from torrent sites, the creators have gone through similar steps to those you’ll go through below. It’s actually quite simple to create your own torrent file – the only problem may be what to do with it once you’ve finished building it (we’ll cover that below as well).
