Google's latest Pixel phones now come with a feature that lets you create professional-looking time-lapse videos of the night sky.
Google Pixel Gemini AI Event: Everything Revealed in 8 Minutes
Over a few recent summer nights, I tried out the Pixel’s astrography feature and after a few false starts, got it working. When I saw my handiwork, I was blown away by the quality of the videos and discovered a whole new way to use the Pixel.
Google’s Pixel astrography feature lets you record videos that make it look like the stars are moving across the sky. Of course, you’re not capturing the movement of the stars, but the rotation of the Earth.
The new feature uses time-lapse photography alongside the phone’s existing astrophotography capabilities, boosting the phone’s ability to pick up the light from stars. DSLR cameras have long been able to pull off this trick, but it’s much easier and cheaper to do so on the Pixel.
