This article explains how to "explode" a piece of an Excel pie chart, or create Pie of Pie or Bar of Pie charts, to emphasize important data. Instructions apply to Excel versions 2019, 2016, 2013, and Excel for Microsoft 365.

To emphasize a particular part of a pie chart, you can move the part or remove it from the rest of the chart, as illustrated in the image above.

Select the area of the pie chart once to highlight it.

Select a second time on the piece you want to explode.
